Whether it be for a wedding, Acot, the Polo or just that really special occasion, having a hat will always lift your outfit from ‘lovely’ to ‘Wow!’ But since formal hats are no longer everyday attire for women, choosing the right one can become very stressful.
Hats are a statement in themselves and should reflect your personality, sense of style and most importanly, you should be comfortable wearing them. However, not every hat suits every face, so here are the best shapes for different faces:
Oval-shaped faces are ucky enough to be able to wear any style, so try them all!
Heart-shaped faces are wider at the temples and narrower at the chin, so hats worn straight across the browline will highlight your eyes. Avoid large, heavy styles which make your jaw look narrow.
Round faces should avoid small hats that are fitted to the face, and choose large-brimmed hats with a high crown to slim the face.
Square-shaped faces suit hats with asymmetrical brims. Accessoring with earrings will compliment your jawline.
Narrow-shaped faces suit full hats with larger brims, and should avoid small fitted hats with high brims, which will make your face appear longer.
Of course, sometimes a hat feels ‘too much’, or is just not what you’re looking for, in which case a fascinator will add the special touch you are looking for.
Here at High Society Occasions we have a range of hats and fascinators by Nigel Rayment, Ispirato and LJ Designs, designed specifically to match the outfits we have, saving you a lot of time and trouble, as well as the option to have a fascinator made in the style and colour you want, to perfectly finish your outfit.
